An owl, a sculpted lion, interlaced serpents, carved knotwork, spirals or a horned skull: the hammer outline supports quite different designs. Among the six sterling silver Thor’s hammer pendants compared here, the Owl Rune has the smallest listed dimensions and the Viking Skull has the largest. The chain passage is built into the top of each piece, so compare that construction alongside the motif and size.

| Norse Knotwork | 1.25 × 1.875 in (approx. 31.8 × 47.6 mm) | 30 g silver weight, not a total pendant weight | Loop formed behind the sculpted upper face |
| Lion Head | Approx. 40 × 50 mm | Approx. 15 g pendant weight | Hollow horizontal lion-head section |
| Spiral relief | Approx. 1⅝ × 2 in (approx. 41.3 × 50.8 mm) | Approx. 42 g pendant weight | Wide tubular loop with side openings |

Each size appears as a pair of figures in the order the listing gives it. The listings don’t state which figure is height and which is width, or whether the top loop is counted, so treat the pairs as overall listed dimensions rather than exact drop lengths. The Norse Knotwork and spiral pendants are listed in inches; the millimetre figures beside them are conversions.
Five listings give approximate pendant weights; Norse Knotwork gives 30 g as its silver weight, without a separate total pendant weight. Keep that basis distinct when comparing. Larger listed dimensions also do not necessarily mean a higher listed weight: Lion Head measures about 40 × 50 mm at 15 g, while Serpent Knot measures about 31 × 45 mm at 16 g.
Compact and mid-size designs
These three are the smallest by listed dimensions. They split into an animal-topped hammer, a hammer where the pattern itself carries the design, and one that combines a sculpted face with dense carving.
Owl and rune hammer
The owl has the smallest listed dimensions here, about 22 × 37 mm, and the lowest stated pendant weight, about 11 g. A compact owl head with two round eyes and a beak sits at the top, above a twisting stem and rune-style characters across the hammer face. The listing confirms the characters are raised and recessed silver rather than printed. Side and back photographs show a horizontal tubular opening through the owl head, with no extra hanging bail. A 925 mark is on the reverse.
Serpent knot hammer
Instead of a separate head at the top, the serpent hammer works its motif into the face: interlaced serpent forms cross the hammer head, and raised knotwork continues down the handle over an oxidized background. The top ends in an integrated rolled loop, and the side photographs show a rounded passage through it. The back is a dark recessed reverse, not a repeat of the front knotwork, and carries a 925 mark.
Norse knotwork hammer with a sculpted face
This design places a sculpted face above interlocking carved knotwork, giving it a tall, vertical silhouette at a listed 1.25 × 1.875 in. The listing doesn’t name the face, and its appearance alone isn’t enough to identify a particular figure. Side photographs show a thick polished edge and a chain loop formed behind or within the sculpted upper face, and the listing notes a 925 stamp inside the pendant. Its weight is listed only as 30 g of silver.

The remaining three are listed at roughly 40 mm or more on their first figure. Their broader outlines make room for a lion head, large curling spirals or a horned skull.
Lion head hammer
A dimensional lion head and mane sit on a broad, textured top tube, giving this hammer a pronounced animal face above the knotwork. Raised braids run down the handle and across the hammer base. At about 40 × 50 mm and 15 g, it is one of the lighter listings despite its size. The back photograph shows a recessed reverse behind the patterned face. The chain passes through the hollow horizontal lion-head section, visible in the side and back photographs.
Spiral relief hammer
Listed simply as a Sterling Silver Thor Hammer Pendant, this design uses large curling spirals and dark recesses for a strong outline. It is the heaviest stated pendant weight here at about 42 g, listed at about 1⅝ × 2 in. A wide decorated tubular loop sits above the hammer head, and the photographs confirm openings at its sides. The listing notes it is made in Thailand.
Horned skull hammer
The skull hammer has the largest listed dimensions of the six, at about 43 × 61 mm and 38 g. A horned skull rises from a textured upper section, and open silver interlace fills the broad hammer face. “Viking” is part of the product name, not a historical attribution for the helmet or the design. Hollow side openings in the upper hammer head carry the chain, and the reverse below is smooth.

Lion Head Thor's Hammer Sterling Silver Pendant
A lion head on a broad top tube widens the hammer’s outline; listed at about 40 × 50 mm and 15 g.

Where the chain passes
Across the six, the chain route takes three forms. The owl and lion designs run a horizontal tube through the head itself. The serpent and Norse Knotwork pendants use a loop: rolled at the top on the serpent, formed behind the sculpted face on the Norse Knotwork. The skull and spiral designs carry the chain through openings at the sides of a broad upper section.

None of the listings gives an inside measurement for these openings, so a chain that looks right in a photograph is not a guarantee of fit. Both the chain and the fittings on the end you thread must clear the opening. Our pendant chain fit guide explains what to check. No complimentary leather necklace or cord is included with these pendants. Plan a wearing chain separately; styling photographs do not establish what is supplied.
A note on hammer amulets
Hammer-shaped amulets have a documented past. In 2014 the National Museum of Denmark reported a 10th-century hammer amulet found at Købelev on Lolland, about 2.5 cm long, with an inscription it interpreted as “This is a hammer.” These contemporary Mjolnir designs are not identified as replicas of that find, and its inscription does not translate the marks on the owl pendant.
Choosing your next step
Start with the motif you want at the top, or across the face, then use the table to compare listed dimensions with a pendant you already wear. Check the weight basis, then ask for the inside opening dimensions before matching your chain and its end fittings. If none of these hammers is quite right, browse the full range of gothic pendants.
