Medusa Jewelry: The Gorgon Face Behind the Snake Hair

Recognize Medusa jewelry by its frontal Gorgon face, then compare a closed-mouth ring with yellow CZ eyes and an open-mouthed snake-hair silver pendant.

In these Medusa jewelry designs, the human face is the center of the composition, with snakes framing it as hair. Look at the mouth, eyes and the way the serpents meet the head. Those details give the ring and pendant below two different expressions; a snake motif alone does not identify Medusa.

Two faces, two expressions

The ring: a closed mouth and yellow eyes

The Yellow CZ Eye Medusa Sterling Silver Ring shows a polished human face with a smooth forehead and cheeks and a closed mouth. Two small yellow cubic zirconia stones sit in dark sockets as eyes, drawing attention to the gaze. The yellow comes from cubic zirconia, not a natural gemstone.

The snakes are tightly coiled and textured. They wrap around the head and pass under the chin, then continue down into the shoulders of the ring. The coils extend onto the band shoulders, carrying the snake detail beyond the face. Polished high points against darkened recesses keep the features readable. The overall effect is more contained than fierce.

The original listed face size is 0.85 × 1.30 in (approx. 21.6 × 33.0 mm). That is the size of the face, not the ring size. You choose the ring size separately from the listed US sizes. The whole ring weighs approximately 24 g.

The pendant: an open mouth and rising serpents

The Medusa Snake-Hair Sterling Silver Pendant takes the opposite approach. The mouth is open with teeth showing, and the silver-toned eyes sit in dark recesses. Its open mouth creates a more forceful expression than the closed lips on the ring. Snake heads rise and turn outward around the forehead, and the tangled serpents give the piece an irregular outline instead of a neat oval.

Above the face is an ornate tapered bail, the loop or fitting a chain passes through. It has a dimpled texture and raised scrolls and joined to the face by a small connecting attachment. The front is fully sculpted, while the back is hollow and concave. The reverse photo in the product gallery shows this.

Choosing your Medusa

Start with the face itself. If you are drawn to a quieter, closed-mouth face where the color sits in the eyes, look closely at the ring. If you want visible teeth, outward-reaching snakes and a rougher outline, the pendant is the more forceful reading. In both galleries, zoom in on the eyes and on how the snakes meet the face, since those details carry the expression.

Then check the practical points. For the ring, choose your US size separately and check its availability, because the face measurement does not describe the band. The pendant is sold on its own, and the listing does not give an inner bail opening. Before pairing it with a chain you already own, compare the chain's end fittings with the bail. Our pendant chain fit guide explains how to check this. To see other serpent designs alongside these two, browse the snake jewelry collection.
